COL Carson is an expert in logistics. She is the Senior Director of Business Development, Army Logistics for Fluor Corporation, Federal Government Group. Prior to joining Fluor in March 2012, she was the Account Manager for Army Logistics at SRA, International.
COL Carson served more than 27 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, holding command positions on the battery, battalion and brigade levels. During the first half of her career, she served in non-traditional roles. She was a Combat Arms Officer where very few women were allowed to serve. She was a Field Artillery Officer, and was the first woman to Command a Pershing Missile Battery.
COL Carson retired from the military in 2008 as Chief of Staff, Combined Arms Support Command. Her earlier assignments include Commander, 501st Corps Support Group, Korea; Support Operations Officer, 19th Theater Support Command, Korea; Student, US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, VA; G4, 3rd Infantry Division, Ft Stewart, GA; and Commander, 26th Forward Support Battalion, Ft Stewart, GA.
COL Carson’s military awards include the Legion of Merit, 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Meritorious Service Medal, 5 Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Accommodation Medal, 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Accommodation Medal, 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal, 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Services Medal, 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; and Parachutist Badge.
COL Carson holds an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Longwood University, where she also received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Education. She earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College, and is a graduate of Armed Forces Staff College.
