June 14th is the U.S. Army’s 249th Birthday!

June 14th will be your U.S. Army’s 249th birthday. The birthday theme is “Honoring the Past, Defending the Future,” as we remember the values and heroism of our forbearers and take advantage of the diverse opportunities for Soldiers to maximize their potential. We thank and honor all those who have served in the Army in the last 249 years.
Be part of the celebration – Here’s how you can join us in the celebration:
1. Share this year’s 249th Army Birthday graphics (found in this tool kit) on your social media and tag us @USARMY and use #ArmyBDay on June 14.
2. On June 14th, create your own Happy Birthday video and give the Army a shout out on Instagram, please tag us and use the hashtag mentioned above.

Join the Army Birthday Wreath Laying at Arlington National Cemetery – on June 14th, 0900 at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery. This annual ceremony is a tradition that honors the service and sacrifice of our fallen service members and the legacy they left behind. The event will be livestreamed from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on DVIDS. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
