On April 9, 2016, Command Sergeant Major Kristal Florquist assumed responsibility as the Command Sergeant Major of the Army Reserve Sustainment Command, Birmingham, AL.

CSM Florquist began her military career on April 16, 1986, when she enlisted in to the Colorado Army National Guard as a Military Policeman. She transferred into the Army Reserve in June of 1999.

In her capacity, CSM Florquist carries out policies and standards on performance, training, appearance and conduct of Soldiers.

She also advises the Commander and Staff on all Soldier matters, particularly those areas affecting training, leader development, mobilization, employer support, family readiness and support, and quality of life.

As a career Soldier, CSM Florquist has continued her dedication to Soldiers in positions of increased leadership responsibility.

She has held several key NCO positions:  Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Sergeant/Sergeant Major, and Command Sergeant Major.  Her Previous Assignments include, but are not limited to: Command Sergeant Major 2d Brigade, Pacific Training Division, 75th Training Command, Command Sergeant Major 1st Brigade (PD), 104th Division (LT), Command Sergeant Major, 651st Regional Support Group and 5025th Garrison Support Unit; Operations Sergeant Major, Special Operations Theater Support Element-USASOC, Kuwait; Operations Sergeant Major, 164th Corps Support Group, Mesa, AZ; Operations Sergeant Major, 6th BDE(PD)/104th DIV(IT), Aurora, CO; First Sergeant, HHD 6th BDE(PD)/104th DIV(IT), Aurora, CO; Brigade S4 NCO, 169th FA, Aurora, CO; Operations NCO/PSG, 220th Military Police Company, Denver, CO. Her Military education includes the Garrison Command Sergeants Major Course, Fort Belvoir, VA; U.S. Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX; First Sergeants Course, Camp Williams, UT; Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Fort Lee, VA; Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Golden, CO; Primary Leadership Development Course, Fort Carson, CO; and many other professional development, career/MOS/subject matter expertise courses.

CSM Florquist is currently enrolled at University of the Rockies, Denver, CO, in a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational and Leadership Development program.

She received her Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University, WV, in 2012.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, Denver, CO, in 1998.

She also holds a Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Certification from Arapahoe Community College, Littleton, CO, 1988.

Her military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Army Commendation Medal (6th Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal (3rd Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (4th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon (3rd Award). Her military campaigns include Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

CSM Florquist was born in Boulder, CO, but grew up in Montrose, CO.  She currently resides in Thornton, CO with her Husband, SGM (Ret) Bert Hendricks.

CSM Florquist and her husband have a beautiful blended family with 3 children, Cassy, Jason and Katelyn, and 6 grandchildren.
