LTC Mary Coleman Spring served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1988, serving in assignments in Alabama, Georgia, Washington, DC, Korea, and California. Most notable assignments include Commander, U.S. Army Postal Group, Korea, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel and Logistics, U.S. Total Army Personnel Command, Alexandria, Virginia.

She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Spring Hill College, Mobile, Alabama, and Master of Business Administration degree from Strayer University. Related to her civilian professional life, Lieutenant Colonel Spring has earned certification as a Senior Human Resources Professional from the Human Resources Certification Institute, and she holds certifications in human resource management and executive leadership from The Disney Institute and Case Western University’s Mandel Center for Nonprofit Management, respectively.

Since retiring from the U. S. Army, LTC Spring has worked primarily in the nonprofit arena – in international, national, and community-based organizations in the Washington, DC, area; she is currently with Georgetown University’s Human Resources Department.

LTC Spring has been a member of the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation since 2001. She has served as Chair of Fundraising Development and Co-chair for the Planning and Development Committee before her current role as 2nd Vice President. She is a member of both the WAC Veterans Association (Northern Virginia Chapter 33), and the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation. LTC Spring is also a volunteer or member of ad hoc project teams in such community interests as women’s health, veterans’ benefits, and public libraries.

She and her family reside in Silver Spring, Maryland.
