Tell Your Story

Have you talked with a woman veteran? Has she told you “I didn’t really do anything important.” Do not believe it! Both her story and yours are important! Every person’s experiences, whether exciting or routine, provide a unique record of service. If we don’t record our experiences they will be permanently lost.

Why is the story of an Army woman important? Women have been involved with armies from the very beginning of human existence. Today’s Army women serve in a variety of significant roles which would not be possible without the history of women’s service. If not for the documentation of Army women’s stories, the public would never know some of the vital contributions women have made in military history.

“Tell Your Story” is the Army Women’s Foundation’s oral history program and was expanded using guidelines established by the Library of Congress Veterans’ History Project (VHP) in partnership with the U.S. Army Women’s Museum. Women’s military experiences have been underreported. The objective of this program is to correct this oversight and to record as many stories as possible of Army Women’s experiences both past and present.

The Army Women’s Foundation encourages you to “Tell Your Story.” Click here to access the form you can complete and submit online. Click here to access the form you can download and mail in to the Army Women’s Foundation.
